Chairman INTACH visits Belgium

Result : a possible collaboration with the City of Leuven. Possible exchange with the Academy of Antwerp.

S.K. Misra, Chairman of INTACH, comes over from London to visit our Chapter. He has been received at the Townhall of Leuven by the mayor, Mr. Louis Tobback.

The end of June, our chapter has been visited by Mr. LK Gupta, head of the Chapter Division of INTACH. And only a few weeks later, Mr. SK Misra, Chairman of INTACH, payed us a visit. Mr. SK Misra, former principal secretary of the Prime Minister of India, has been chairman of INTACH since already two years. He was in London to induce the re-start of the INTACH-UK Chapter, and to present a new project in Pantyala (Punjab) in the Nehru Center. His visit to Belgium has led to some definite results. Saturday July 16, he was received at the Leuven Townhall by the Mayor, Mr. Louis Tobback, and the Minister of Culture and Foreign Aid, Mrs. Denise Vandevoort. The City of Leuven will investigate which project is susciptable for a support. Next day, July 17, Mr. Misra was received at the Ethnographic Museum (Antwerp) by its director, Mr. Jan van Alphen. Together with the Royal Museums for Art and History (Brussels), the Ethnographic Museum had already expressed the intention to give a support to the \\\"Lost Gardens of Khajuraho\\\". The meeting of sunday led to a possible collaboration between the Antwerp Academy (Restoration Section) and the 12 INTACH Restoration Centers in India.
